Hi I was playing on Sunday in horndeous weather rain/cold/then sun/then more rain for about 6 hours and noticed at the end of the day my thermal lenses have water and trapped between them, I have put them into a desicator jar here at work to try and remove it but does anyone have any ideas????

When in doubt, always replace your lens. Better safe than blind!

yeah I would agree but they are new.

Use a hair dryer to dry out the wet. It will probably never happen again. If you gently peel on the lense you may find an open corner or something which you can reglue.

But otherwise there is a good chance that your thermal action will be fine once it is dry in there again.

You can even completely remove the thermal internal pane and reglue it if you have to.

Ive heard of this on new lenses. You dont need to replace it. At the most, get the mfg to cover it under waranty.

cheers was thinking that, after an hour in the desicator they are looking better, they are milatary grade ESS 3mm lexan lense (yes its what we use) I notice that the quality on them (maybe this one lense) is no where near as good as my JT's the internal lense has been fitted of centre (couldnt see it when it was in the frame) and as such the it has exposed some of the foam.

How did you reglue the internal lense? hot glue or just back onto the foam?

I have before with success dried them out in a oven set at a very low heat setting with the door cracked open. Use caution as the lenses can get very hot...Use gloves or a towel to handle them. The heat gets out any moisture and while the lense cools you work/press with your gloved fingers around to reseal the lenses together.

Yes take them out of the mask/frame...........

I have this happen all the time as I spray my mask with a hose when I get home.

I just tap the lens on something till all the moisture's at the bottom, then squeeze the lenses together to get the moisture absorbed into the spongy thing separating the lenses. Then set it in the sun to dry.

Yup, I get water drops between the lenses from time to time. The goal is to minimize spotting when it dries.

As far as cooking it in an oven or hitting it with a heat gun, I wouldn't trust a lens to protect my vision after that. It's probably safe, but at that point I'd pay the $20 for a new lens and be more than probably safe.

That being said, that happened to my lens quite a few times. Never glued it together, I just made sure to let it dry whenever it got water in it. Sure wouldn't want to expose it to extreme heat, though.
