Question Hammer lighter or heavier?

Sorry to keep on asking all this stuff...
Re: Hammer weight on a PGP
On the Tinker's guild (Doc Nickel's site) I found people suggesting efficiency improved with a heavy hammer and a light spring and NOT the other way as supported here and stockclassPB (lighten hammer and put a stronger spring in)

What's up I can see the physics theory** behind this making them similar but what's the general feeling / experience been with you guys?

Any help appreciated (especially if it comes before I shave 15 g off the hammer )

Cheers,
PDJ

I didn't notice any boost in efficiency when I shaved my PGP hammer. What happened is that I needed a heavier spring and the gun didn't shoot as hard deeper in the cartridge.

Nelsons definitely benefit from a lighter hammer.

^ Yeah, regarding the Nel-Spot hammers... I've always had better efficiency with lighter then stock versions.

Remember back in the days (early to mid 80's) when people would "swiss cheese" their hammers? The first commercial lightened hammer that I can recall (that made an impact in the market) was the LAPCO version with channels made into the hammer to lighten it. Maybe somebody else has some other recollection that I might have missed?

It was called a "Fluted" hammer. TASO comes to mind.

I bought one recently, have yet to test it though. It is extremely light.

Yes, you just have to pop out the pin and switch the sears. You would probably give up some anti-kink properties as well.

i found out on my Sniper2 when i used the super heavy free flow tungsten hammer that the extra weight and super light main spring allowed a very short dwell time helping me get 6 more shots off of a 12 gram
