| Happy 2009! | You dont have to but it makes it alot easier. What I recently did was attach the seal to a dowel rod with tape that was folder over and pressed the seal into the chamber plug. Then I threw in a used 12ie and tightened the 12gram pluger down as far as it would go to make sure the seal was in place.

I tried to do it from the front and ended up taking it all apart. But I'm no expert on them so someone might have a trick. | |

I have resealed some pistols and found that sometimes the chamber face seal has worn out to the point that there was a pink ring left in the chamber face. If you can find a LONG dental pick to scrape out the remnants of the seal,if there are any left, then go for it. If you are going to remove the valve train and don't have the knockout tool, you can stack EMPTY 12gs end on end and then use a hammer to knock the whole thing out. Just remember how the parts looked when they came out.

| Meatshield Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: HTown, TX | The KP is now Detrevni's and used to be mine, the face seal blew in about 3 hours of play after I sold it to him. So what is the best way of removing the valve assembly and returning it?? empty 12 grams or a wooden dowel?? is there anything that need to be done prior to knocking it out, other than removing the valve guts?? Thanks for all the info so far.

| MCB Member | Remove the retaining nut and the guts. Then use the empty 12 gram and a dowel trick. Gently tap on it until it comes out. If gently tapping doesn't work, you may have to give it a good solid hit. Just make sure the 12 gram is seated correctly. I have ruined the front of a valve before by hitting it with the knock out tool not seated correctly. |
