Not that I know much at all.
But I think you might have to pull the whole valve.

You dont have to but it makes it alot easier.

What I recently did was attach the seal to a dowel rod with tape that was folder over and pressed the seal into the chamber plug. Then I threw in a used 12ie and tightened the 12gram pluger down as far as it would go to make sure the seal was in place.

I think you are right.
I tried to do it from the front and ended up taking it all apart. But I'm no expert on them so someone might have a trick.

I think disassembly is the best way.

I have resealed some pistols and found that sometimes the chamber face seal has worn out to the point that there was a pink ring left in the chamber face. If you can find a LONG dental pick to scrape out the remnants of the seal,if there are any left, then go for it.
If you are going to remove the valve train and don't have the knockout tool, you can stack EMPTY 12gs end on end and then use a hammer to knock the whole thing out. Just remember how the parts looked when they came out.

You really need to take it all apart. I have tried to do it from the front and I just end up ruining the new seal.

Nice KP by the way. You interested in selling the stock KP asa sitting there in the picture?

yeah, take it apart. the old seals fall apart and come out in chunks most of the time. it's likely that a chunk could fall inside the valve and cause leaks. do it right, take it apart and save yourself a headache later down the road.

The KP is now Detrevni's and used to be mine, the face seal blew in about 3 hours of play after I sold it to him.

So what is the best way of removing the valve assembly and returning it?? empty 12 grams or a wooden dowel??
is there anything that need to be done prior to knocking it out, other than removing the valve guts??

Thanks for all the info so far.

Remove the retaining nut and the guts. Then use the empty 12 gram and a dowel trick. Gently tap on it until it comes out. If gently tapping doesn't work, you may have to give it a good solid hit. Just make sure the 12 gram is seated correctly. I have ruined the front of a valve before by hitting it with the knock out tool not seated correctly.

Yep. KP is mine now.

Thanks for the thread, Clearush! Yeah, in my frustration, I made a whole new one in the Sheridan section asking the same question. I didn't even know this one was here! Small world. Oh well, thanks guys!
