I'm not a fan of changing batteries so I was really drawn to the ULE custom mags that are offered on the AGD site. What I curious about is this; I have a 22cu tank I use on my sniper, and was wondering if anyone has tried using one on their mag. I had heard before that Mags weren't the most air efficient, but with free air refills at fields all I would really want is at least two hoppers worth. I've just been spoiled by how light that 22cu is on the Sniper, I just can't picture wanting a bigger tank anytime soon. I've been playing stock class for over 2 years, so wasting paint isn't really an issue for me. |

So if you're giving it a 750 psi input you have 3000-750=2250 psi to work with before the input pressure starts to drop. Compare that to a gun with a 250 psi input that gets to use 3000-250 = 2750 psi of the tank before it starts to drop off. 2750/2250 = 1.22, that's 22% more shots per tank for the lower pressure gun even if they use the same mass of air to propel each shot. The mag just can't reach as "deep" into the tank as a lower pressure gun. With a 4500 psi tank this is less of a problem as they ratio becomes (4500-250)/(4500-750)= 1.133.

That reg feeds the dump chamber at around 450 to 500 psi depending on how you set the "velocity adjuster" on the rear. That adjuster is actually the reg output that feeds the valve and dump chamber. I wish I could tell you more about how efficient or not a 'mag is but my own classic keeps chopping balls on me so I've never been able to really play with it over a series of games to figure this out. But the small amount I have played didn't find it to be all that bad. And I'm another big fan of 22 ci's. I've used mine on an autococker and love it. So narrow and light. I may just sell my two 68ci watermelon tanks and get a second 22 ci. The only catch is that most guns will want to be set up with a mini drop forward to make up for the extra long length of the 22ci.

My RT is a gas-hog but then I have an 88ci Armaggedon on it and use an 1100 psi input pressure so I'm not exactly shooting for record-setting efficiency. I noticed a larger pressure drop on my RT shooting half a case with it's 88ci tank than I would expect to see with my 68ci on my Cyborg. Of course the borg sips air quite conservatively.
