| Active Member | 68 Special help so a 68 special may be in my near future from a local contact. i've heard of numerous old school mods people did to prevent chopping, and improve performance. does anyone know of any "essentials" that NEED to be done? thanks |

| Other than a syphon tank they are almost bullet proof. I dont know of any mods needed. though there is a lot you can do to personalise them

| They only have the chopping problem with small paint. In that case, you can either wrap a rubber band around the breech, or cut a 3" strip of brass wire (ie coat hanger), wrap around the barrel nut, to the breech. But an easier solution is to just avoid smaller paint.... Also, you will need a hopper adapter. The feed elbow is designed for those old 45-rnd hoppers. You need an adapter to use a normal size hopper. It likely has one, and if it doesnt, you can make one using plumbing adapter (ie 3/4-1") Other then that, the 68-Special really is bomb proof. The only 2 weak points are: 1- Feed necks- They tend to crack from being overtightened. But easy to fix with JB weld, and tape 2- Internal line- They also tend to blow. They can be replaced with microline with CP fittings. Oh, and you really need a siphon. I'm sure your thinking that you can just convert to HPA, gas, or whatever, but honestly it is just easier to get a siphon installed. You will be very happy if you do, as the result is extremely satisfying. JUST DONT get that siphon mixed up with your other tanks!!! nick

this one's going to be sticking around for a while, and it does have the hopper adapter. i sorta lied about the whole local thing, it was an ebay auction, which i won! (sorry guys, it's not that i dont trust you, but i'm SURE you guys have more money than me :/ ) needless to say, i'm pretty happy at the moment. 79.00 is pretty good IMO. this is actually sort of a sentimental buy, because i talked my father into getting into the sport. he's already got an X7, but i'm just happy i'll have something mechanical to use alongside him, especially one this badass! | Looks in good shape. Usually you see some rust on the hammer carrier, or the bolts, but I don't see any at all. Seems very clean for a 20+ year old gun. Note- That siphon would likely be out of hydro. People usually throw away co2 tanks when hydro runs out, but not with siphons. They are a bit of a pain in the arse to install, so I always just rehydro mine. (some have been hydrotested 3 times already!) Just make sure the hydrotester doesnt charge for valve removal/installation. Also, obviously, don't use those goggles...

| Thats the problem. Sure, the goggles are not safe, but the bigger problem is they leave a very ugly square "welt" on your face. That square welt last the entire day, and you get all sorts of wierd looks.
