consistency issues; autococker content

I have a 2k, right feed cocker with a Palmers stabilizer running on HPA. I am getting velocity jumps of around 30 fps which seems like alot with HPA and the Stabilizer. Any advice/thoughts on how to improvement consistency is appreciated.

Thanks - Charles ^_^

It is likely that the paintballs are rolling into the barrel so they are not getting equal amt of time to accelerate.

A solution for the problem is wedgits from PPS (15 bucks or something) or a good barrel kit so the ball stays put.

The stabilizer or tank reg could also be fouled up causing problems, or you could have some funkiness in your lower tube causing inconsistency too.

Even having the gun timed poorly can lead to strange velocity fluctuation.

There are a lot of factors. Id bet it is the rollouts though.

Thanks for the reply. I use a Freak Kit, so ball rollouts arent a problem. I'm thinking about ordering a Brass Palmers with wedgits, but not to fix the rollout problem....I want brass

I'll go through it and clean all the fittings, tube, etc. Got the marker in a trade and it works well, so didnt have a reason to do anything to it. Actually shoots really well, but I'd like to have it be more consistent at the chrono.

Thanks again - Charles ^_^

well, I've got a couple of answers for you.

1. don't worry about the chrono results - if you're hitting what you're shooting at and not playing hot - then you're cool.

if that's not good enough with you (and I know it wouldn't be with me)

2. Follow the flow of air and break down the parts of the gun for a thorough cleaning and oiling. By following the path of air I mean - start with the reg, then move to the valve.

I was having the same problem. Turned out the valve nut had backed off, and the hammer was hitting the nut at the same time it was hitting the pin. Kinda strange, but it did not leak.

You very well could have it sprung wrong for your operating pressure. There are a lot of things that can cause your velocity to be erratic. We will need to know a little more to help you.
  1. What Pressure are you running at the main valve?
  2. What springs do you have for the valve and the hammer?
  3. Where do you have your IVG set?
  4. Are you getting any farting when firing?
  5. Is this a standard body or a mini?
  6. Is the wide swing during rapid firing, i.e. ATing or when you take time between shoots?
  7. Do you have a new Stabilizer or is it broke in?
  8. Is your gun will lubed but not over lubed?
  9. When is the last time you cleaned it [the marker]?

But the very first thing you should look at is the quality of the paint that you are usuing. Ball to ball variances probably cause more issues with consistancy and is probably the last thing people look at after they've spent weeks doing this and that trying to fix something that is cause by the paint not the marker. (even with a barrel kit)

But a good cleaning and tech never hurts if you know what your doing and don't damage anything.
