Removing Autococker Vertical ASA

I have a GenX "Chaos Series" cocker body that I'm using for a halfblock project. I wanted to replace the vertical ASA with a minicocker frontblock with integrated ASA so I can move the regulator farther away from the trigger guard.

Problem 1: PBNation people nad semi-helpful people from various hardware and auto stores told me the nut involved was most definitely a 12 point nut. However, the one place that had 12 point sockets didn't have any that would fit the nut. Perhaps the nut is stripped. The not-very-helpful guy at the hardware store tries to get it out with a plier and probably stripped whatever WAS left of the nut. Either way, what is the proper fitting? Any other ways to get this out?

Problem 2: I'm not an Autococker person. Assuming I somehow do manage to remove the ASA, am I going to have to "plug the void" with anything or would the ASA on the new frontblock be ready to use immediately?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Its indeed a 1/4" 12 pt socket.
If its stripped, the only way to remove it is drill a hole in the head of the bolt and use an easy out to remove it.
When its out, you'll need to plug the hole if you are going to use a Mini FB.

It'll be a lot of work to plug the holes that it opens up. First there's the one the bolt goes into and then there's two more non threaded holes in the body where the air used to flow through from the adapter to the valve chamber. That's three holes to plug and you don't have threads in two of them.
