Some questions about rethreading a barrel tip.

I have a great cocker and sniper with a matching boomstick.I love the guns but they lose a lot of wow factor without the matched barrel. However 9 of 10 chance that wherever I go the paint is way too small for the boomstick.

As I see it I have 3 options, well 4 if you count home brew mods but I'd like to get something professionally done.

1 have a smith cut the tip off and rethread it to fit a barrel kit like a freak, edge or other.

2 see if PPS will add wedgits to a ss boomstick (anyone know)

3 bore it out for inserts. (can this be done with a boomstick?)

None is in my opinion the perfect solution. Since there are lots of folks here who seem to be on top of things as far as knowledge and wisdom I thought I'd get some opinions. I was leaning toward the rethreading but I worry about stripping out the raw aluminium threads that would be left after that. I have seen some bored out barrels that are never the same again. Either heat discolored the ano or they just never seemed to shoot true. Wedgits might still leave me with rollout issues with the rock forward sniper.

What do you guys think?

I could do nail polish wedgits and have done the black tape thing in the past but was never happy with these.

You can probably have PPS add wedgits.

By the way... nice screen name... have you seen the Luggage recently?

That evil thing nearly caught me again last week. It ate my special sandles.

Any idea of the price range on the wedgits?

You can also just put some electrical tape over the end of the barrel...

Hmm I was unaware of the python kit. That is verra nice. Though it would add lenght to my already 14" boom stick. Really like that they have a reball sized bore. Wonder if they have them in shiny? I could polish the back myself of course. Hmmm.
How do the inserts go into the sleeve from the gun end or the fromt end? It looks like they have a small lip on them so they only fit one way is this true?

I wish lapco still made their sizers.

Russc I have done that and was less than pleased with the results. Back when I started and that was all we had it was great but now I don't find the results compare with a good kit.

It's been a decade and a half or more since I read that book. I've been a dedicated Pratchett fan ever since.

I never heard in a previous thread about if PPS can Wedgit SS or aluminium barrels. No one ever offered up a definitive answer to that one.

new problem. The glue in the glued boomstick died yesterday. Would this change anything in the resident experts opinion since it is now apart anyway it seems that rethreading might be the best thing to do.

I know PPS can wedgit aluminum barrels. I had them wedgit my cocker apex barrel a few years back, before they came out with their own apex adaptor. It was ~$15 IIRC. I have been tempted to get my Carter Buzzard SS barrel wedgited, but i never have roll outs, so i am not going to try until i have a problem
