yep, that's it. "...a high-quality varnish made from a balanced blend of tung oil and other fine penetrating oils."

Okay...now I'm confused. I had decided to refinish my stock using Minwax Tung Oil, but now it seems that it's a wiping varnish instead. Which provides a better finish/protection, real tung oil, or tung oil finish?

i'm not sure which is better protection but i'm happy with what i've used. i'd say the Minwax will provide a nice durable finish and protect the wood just fine.

Go with the Tung oil finish. There is still a goodly amount of tung in the varnishes but it is tempered with drying agents and other good stuff so it hardens up sooner. Natural tung oil is a great salad bowl finish but as I mentioned before it can take up to a week or more to dry hard so that it's impervious to skin oils and driven paint. There is nothing at all wrong with using what is basically the old school true oil varnish as a finishing. It builds faster and dries MUCH faster and will be just as hard in the end. Also thanks to it being a mixture of varous oils and drying agents you can get the best of each component. Tung oil on it's own is pretty good but it's not ideal.
