Thanks for the posts splattttttt.
When working with 12g's now, I will try to turn down the velocity. I have always tried to stay close to 280 for scenario play.

I see... that explains some things I suppose, I've always wondered why my guns get such crappier 12g efficiency than people always claim about their various guns, but I usually start well over 280.

I owe you SJ. Still have a ways before we're even.

DRG, I often don't change out a twelvee until I've gone through at least three cigar tubes in a speed ball game. More in the woods. Of corse there are many other factors, like good ball to barrel match, and my barrels are usually not ported, and never longer than 11".

THE-SHOOTIST Anyone chubbin' like me for this?
mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...
tlane77 He's got a woody for your woods.

I always get as close to 300 as possible. I've always found, especially with Sheridans that if you are setting your gun at 260 to start, you'll end up with a whole lot of shots at 220-240 which just sucks. Starting at 280-290, the majority of your shots will come in around 260-270.

Your cool, man. Don't sweat it.
But your statement about barrel lenght is right. I know that 8 inches is opitmum for the full expantion of CO2. And that is why I never understood why the AGD Sydarm came with a 6" barrel.

Realism, the Sydarm was intended to replicate a handgun.

It was also designed according to order by some law enforcement agency that probably knew nothing about the physics relating to how it all worked.
I could just imagine poor Tom trying to explain all this during negotiations.

Somehow I don't think that was a huge problem. A Sydarm gets what, 18-20 shots at least from a 12g ... maybe more if you chrono down, and for handgun training that should be just fine. Esp since the spring tube means reloading is not part of what is simulated.

One of the players at my field has one, he sayes he changes the 12gram after 10 shots. 18-20 is what you would expect from a zues/spyder type pistol. The automags just dont seem to be efficent on 12gs.

My phantom shoots 280 with a 14in barrel and if i remeber correctly it drops all the way down to 220FPS when i swap on the 6in.
