Define "usable shots" with a 12g

Just what is considered useable shots when using a 12gram marker?

Is it chronoing at a consistant FPS before velocity starts to drop?
Or is it consistanly hitting a target downrange before the distance drops off?

This is assuming that the marker is not rapid fired, that there are pauses between each shot.

I usually consider anything above 270~275 "usable".

If it would bounce off goggle lens at 10 ft then it's probably not "usable". Anything between that and regular speeds is all dependent on the skill/desperation of the shooter.

I'm happy until it's below 250, but I make the cut off of "good" shots at 260.

I agree with CR.
220fps is the minimum. Might still not break though depending on where it hits.
I... For all intended purposes feel that best accuracy is achieved by consistent velocities. And that it's most effective, and therefore most usable when I can reach my desired target.
265-275fps.

But you said "12g". And by that you may also be referring to quantity (how many shots)???

THE-SHOOTIST Anyone chubbin' like me for this?
mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...

Like so many others have posted before me, about 260 fps is about the cutoff point. But, if you were looking for quantity that varies greatly on how efficient/inefficient the marker in question is.

For instance, in my PGP, I can squeak out about 20 usable shots provided I'm playing close quarters indoor. If I'm playing a much more open field where distances are greater, this drops off to about 10-15.

My opinion is the same as russ's. Once the speed hits below 250fps I no longer consider it usable.
