| See Matt Mod. Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Bethlehem CT | What exactly are wrong with the Freak inserts? Would it be a poorly bored barrel or is it the inserts themselves? Interesting. I have the same problem, of course, with old Bushie barrels and was considering the same thing. |

If you can get a barrel that hasn't been threaded yet, have PPS put wedgits in, and then have CCI thread it for you then, you might in business. Good luck with that, though.

| Post Whore | What's wrong with having someone bore out a full length barrel for a full lenght brass barrel lining in 3 or 4 different bores, and having an end cap to keep the lining in place? Could be more consistent, plus, its different from the 2pc kits/1pc barrel kits

| MCB Member | Wedgits are not ball detents. They will not stop a double feed, though they will probably stop a tripple feed. When you pump your bushmaster or other pump, you drop a ball into the breech and then load it into the barrel. If the barrel is too loose of bore, the ball rolls out the barrel when you point the gun down. If the ball encounters wedgits "it" is "wedged" in between them, and does not roll out. The advantage of wedgits is that they work on a large variety of paint without fussing around. With freaks you do the same thing except the freak insert does the wedging. I dont like freak insert "bored" barrels because the freak inserts are not perfectly to spec by any means, and neither will your bored barrel. You will have to do a lot of hand fitting to get them all to fit snug, or just bore it so that they all fit but some fit loose. And then they can get stuck in the barrel when crud gets in there or whatever happens (if they are snug) and if they are loose they will not line up perfectly (you can see this by looking DOWN the barrel towards the insert and observing the non perfect ring created by the smaller ID insert in the large ID barrel. So I'd take wedgits anyday. A .690 barrel with wedgits shoots fantastic..thats all I know. They may not be PEAK efficiency but neither are 4 inch inserts by smart parts. I have no problem with real freak backs because they have an O ring to make up for the bad tolerances. |
