Refillable 16 Gram Idea

Hello Everyone, I've come up with an idea which I would like to run by you guys:

After finding a 16 Gram threaded C02 cartridge on Palmer's site, I came up with an idea which would allow you to use a bulk tank to refill 16 gram cartridge for more than one use. Here's the diagram I drew of the idea:

Basically what you would need to do is to screw the 16g into the refill adapter and open the on-off valve. Then you would screw in the Bulk C02 into the other end of the refill adapter and let the C02 flow into the 16g. Afterwards, close the on-off valve. Then you would disconnect both tanks from the adapter and screw the 16 g into a marker's ASA and open the on-off valve. Shoot until empty. Replace with other 16g and refill as necessary.

I would like some thoughts on the idea before I go ahead and buy the parts.

Well... besides the fact that the 16 gram says "Do not refill" on the side and even if you remove the sticker most techs won't refill the tank because they don't recognize it... your idea's ok... but only if you are doing so at your own risk with your own fill station.

How are you going to control the fill? What I mean is, they weigh bulk tanks to determine the fill, with a 16g, connected directly, how will you make sure that no more than 16g goes in?

Dang! beat me by a minute while I thought about it.

I'd think this would be very dangerous. As shoot to thrill said, you'll overfill and make a shrapnell grenade. Or you'll fill one too many times with a similar result. There is a reason they say do not refill, they are only designed to take fill pressure once.

I have an on/off cooper T adapter that screws into an ASA and then you screw your tank into it. Smart Parts had one to.
Technically you could thread a 12 gram bucket changer on it and refill 12-grams, but I don't see the point.

This also directly violates DOT rules. It is a very serious offense.

I understand WHY you want to do it. Small, cheap, refillable tanks. It seems like an endless, under-utlized resourse

They do make very small refillable tanks, which would be a better plan.
Its still clever, but no field that wants to stay in business would ever fill those. Plus, if they saw you filling them yourself, that might get you banned, or at least kicked out

Well, wouldn't it just fill to the 800 or so psi that the C02 normally is at? I assume the 16g tank would be able to accommodate those pressures.

Heck, just add a simple $2 backcheck valve to the bucket-changer. Fill as normal. No need for the T-adapter
