Tap for 10-32 helicoil?

Anyone know off hand, what size tap I need for 10-32 helicoils?

GRIMM!!! lol, how's the weather out there?

I don't know off hand what the tap is, but I'll talk to one of our Mat Techs tomorrow at the unit and post. Hopefully someone will beat me to it.

I don't think that chart is accurate. The 10/32 helicoil uses a 13/64" drill bit. The tap is proprietary. It's a 3FPB.

This one looks right...

See, I knew someone would beat me to it .

My Mat Tech friend agrees with the drill bit size (13/64") but was thrown by the tap...now I can tell him somethign new!

All the helicol taps I have used are specific for helicoil only. Just can't use a regular tap. If my machinest book wasn't packed,I'd be able to tell you. The taps will say HELICOIL on them.

yea helicoil taps are their own threads. There cannot be a substitute tap such as a normal one. That chart above me is correct. The tap may say 10/32 on it but if its a "helicoil" tap its there to tap threads so that after you insert the helicoil it will be 10/32
