| Repairing Stripped Threads So, I've got an Osiris (for those that don't know what these are, see the addendum at the bottom of this post), and the internal ram stripped where the barb was supposed to thread in. I'm positive it's the ram body itself, and not the barb. I REALLY would like to fix this. Understandably I'm sure. Also, drilling it out and incresing the barb size to 10-32 is NOT acceptable. Right now, the barb is smaller, but I don't know the threading. If I increase the size of the barb, I have to drill an even larger hole in the Ripper body, and I'm not about to maul it any more. I'm thinking about Loctiting it in place. Will that work? It turns pretty freely, so I don't think Teflon will let it grip enough. I'm that close to using red Loctite, but anything permanent is a no-no in my book.
Any thoughts at all are always appreciated!
What is an Osiris? An Osiris is an electronic marker or a kit offered by PGI that conveted the hammer/spring system in a 'cocker with an internal FASOR ram that struck the valve. The marker used two LPR's, one that actuated the bolt ram, and one that fed the internal ram. This is the ram that stipped out on me. Because of the independently operated bolt, one could lower the PSI low enough to just chop, and the speed of the marker DRAMATICALLY increased. |
