If anything, I'd tear it down and rebuild all the soft parts, and Rebuild the reg. Maybe check for wear and polish the internals a bit.
And I'll agree with people here: A freak bored ribbed barrel would be a good idea. See if you can find a local machinist, I had a barrel done up and it came out good.
