I've got a cocker serial number question
What is considered to be a "low" serial number? I just bought a few Sniper II bodies on ebay, their serial numbers are 3941 and 2874. I often see people selling cockers with serial numbers in the 50 and 60 thousands and they say that they are low serial numbers. Is there a different numbering convention for snipers than there is for cockers, or do I just have a pair of very low numbered bodies?
nope you got some old ones.
the numbers started over for the minis, so a mini in the low thousands is not all that rare.
took some pictures of em. here goes
I had bought them with the intention of chopping them up. I don't think I'll be doing that now. I guess they'll be going in bst.
Cocker serial numbers are not always diagnostic of exact age, since it has been stated that they would use what they had on the shelf in any order when they made cockers/snipers.
However, some work has been done on the subject by Grendel
So far this is the best work to date available on the internet.
Paulc... You bought those from AmericanPaintball who's on this site.
They are sniper II bodies. Pump bodies. Those are before the autococking Sniper II (aka Autococker) existed.
My sniper II is # 2440 The sniper II bodies are serial # 2000 and up.
Autocockers started around the late 6000 range, and up from there.
I will say the left feed body went for less then expected, but congrats on the purchase. I cringe at the thought of hearing chop up on them older bodies as I was worried thats what would happen. I was going to be sending a few more over to ebay, with that statement is scarey moreso as I hope they go to someone who will restore them, I guess you purchased them and you can do what you want with them, just hope they get put to good use.
Just out of curiosity, if you do sell the right feed one How much do you want for it? Been thinking of doing another sniper II build for myself.
