50 -75 there is no market for old Spyders.

An EM1 is an electro-pneumatic like a BKO, so it's not just an old Spyder.

Railgun 01-12-2007 09:18 PM

Definetly not your average Spyder....

Not too sure why Kingman didn't keep up with development on these. Or did they buy out some other "high" end company and felt the EM1 was competing against themselves? Or did they start a new company sort of like Evil is an outshoot of PMI/Piranha?

EDIT- I see that it was a $700 marker in it's day.

Smart Parts sent them the same "Cease and Decist" letter that all the other companies that made high-end electros (ie ICD, WDP, AKA, AGD, DYE, NPS, etc).

Kingman probobly just though: The EM1 line is not making alot of money, and just walked away. No sense in fighting a battle, especially when most of the companies lost the fight.

Naah, the EM1 way predates the smart parts lawsuits

IIRC the EM1's came out around 2000-2001. I was still using the tigershark when I first saw one. I know they weren't made for much more than a year.

Smart Parts first sued WDP in 1997. The EM1 was years later. They never stopped. In fact, when WDP finally beat SP in 2004, it was over the SAME LAWSUIT. Smart Parts just dragged it on and on hoping that WDP would simply give up, or run out of money. When WDP, they countersued, and won again. That was when Smart Parts STOPPED suing... finally.

I've been told by a few industry insiders that they actually DID send cease and decist letters to all the companies making electros, except for hybrids (which they felt there patent might not hold ground against).

The EM1 pretty much killed itself...

It had issues with LPR's reliability and was struggling to gain a foot hold in the market againts Bushys , shoeboxes and angels.. Same thing happened with the Rainmaker it was a novel idea and work well it just got crushed under bigger name guns.

As for further developements look for the "Raven Primal" It pretty much was a slightly improved Em1 made by Kingman later on.. I think 2005-06

Joel, i've seen the refurb units selling for $75ish so thats my bet for a good price
