Hopper mag not locking in place?

Hey, I'm having a little trouble getting my magazine to lock into place with the hopper adaptor half on it. It just won't lock in. Is it possible the acrylic plate the feed tube comes off to is too large and i can file it down a touch to get the mag to lock in, or is there another problem like having the wrong mag cover? It's the factory magazine that comes with an AT85.

Disregard, I watched the mag release lever as I inserted the magazine, the mag release stayed at full out as the magazine bottomed out, which means the release was not engaging, the magazine was stopping about 2mm short, because of the hopper mount. Working on trimming that down now.

Yeah sometimes the plates shift slightly, or they may be a bit longer and the stack-up can cause the problem you are having.

A little bit of filing and it fits. Can't wait to take this bad boy out on the field.

Finally shot it, the chain isn't synching up to the next lug position with this mag half, tried filing it down again, will retest at first opportunity. If I go any further I'll need a new hopper mag half as I'll be cutting into the tubing.

Before you go that far, check your guide plate. If the magazine is locking in place it is high enough for the cog to contact it as long as the cog pin is riding in the correct track in the guide plate. So take the guide plate off and look at both the spring and the cog itself. Make sure that the guide spring is straight with a full triangle at the forward end and that the cog pin is firmly in place.

I checked the guide plate, it's good but the cog does not look to be sitting parallell to the bore of the gun. It's angled down very slightly towards the trigger. Do I have a bent cog?

turn ats marker on side, insert mag, slam mag home repeatedly until desired goal reached. LoL.

I've had my mag stuck in the marker before. I always pull the mag and press the reset button at the same time as to not break the chain. Then re-index the mag. Perhaps your mag isn't indexed properly.
