Ding ding, bolt seal warning. Anytime I see a max velocity of 235 I look for a missing bolt seal

Double check your bolt seal even if it is split it can affect the FPS.

I still think this sounds like a tank issue...are you absolutely sure it's putting out 850 psi?

The bolt seal is like new. As for the tank, i have tried three different tanks but after some reserch on regulators it is beleived that even though the output is stated to be 850psi the actual output is more like 750-800. The only way to make sure is to attach a output pressure guage of wich i do not have. I will be getting one so i can calibrate my tanks. Any thoughts as to a good guage to use? and also can i buy more shims to open up the regulator if its to low? I know they come with shims but there all used to get the stock pressure. the only thing you can do is take them out to lower output pressure.

Russc you got a point. My buddy nearly changed all the internal parts of is X7 due to low pressure which resulted in the cyclone not turning. But we eventually figured the regulator on his tank was damaged so the problem was the low pressure going into the marker.

But seeing SIC-HEAD has used a variety of bottles this may not be the problem. I have been told that the spring in the bolt (part 5) can also affect the FPS. I have been told by stretching it out, or replacing it the FPS can be increased, but Gumby or someone else will have to confirm that.

Thank you for the advice, all of you. Its nice to talk to others with ats markers who can walk me through some of this stuff. my 85 is the first ATS i have owned but most certainly wont be the last. I have writen LT a few emails and called once but have still not heard back from him. I did ask about the spring in one of those emails. Does any one know if there are any other places to get ATS parts or is Northern Command pretty much it?

PS...all three tanks were ninja tanks and regulators so it still could be a pressure issue but untill i get my hands on something different i cant be sure. I will keep you posted. Any other ideas in the mean time would be great.

You don't really get anything out of stretching a spring, other than a longer slightly weaker spring. To make it stronger you would need to change the actual length of the spring (how long the wire is), the thickness of the wire or the spring constant of the wire. There are a few short-cuts you could try; add washers between the spring and the bolt being the easiest, getting a stronger Nelson spring from a kit, or even increasing the input pressure if possible.

Thank you Gumby, I thought the same thing about the spring but getting a longer or stiffer spring could dammage the internals and with out knowing the specs on the stock spring, I do not want to take that chance. Are there spring upgrades for the ATS markers that you know about? Also, I finally heard back from LoudThunder and hopefully he will check out our posts and be able to add to our disscusion.

PS, russc...says you live in Vancouver. I'm in Quesnel just south of Prince George. What field do you play at? We started a non profit club here in town because we really had nothing here. Check out our site www.NorthernStrikePaintball.ca we also have a facebook page. We have 30 acres of old groth forest that we play at and when we started this we went from the origanal 8 players and quickly rose to over 90 members all though only about 20-30 play regularly. we will be hitting a few turnaments around BC this year as we we will be hosting a few. A few of our guys just got back from the championship games in Calgary the other weekend. If you, or anyone else has any info on clubs or turnaments that might help us out we would love to hear from you and if your ever in the area, come out and play.
