a few Qs about my ATS gun

hey Gumby - I have a gun that won't cycle its clip. I've opened up the guide plate and the plate itself looks fine, but what looked like a sheared pin fell out.

I've circled where it looks like a pin has sheared. The toothed part that hits the chain also looks a little worn. How much am I looking at for replacement of these parts?

I'm also not sure whether this is an AT-85 or a TS-1. It came in the clamshell case but I don't know how to differentiate them otherwise.

Both your cog and pull are broken. The post from your pull sheared off and then the pin most likely broke off from the non-standard shearing force. Good news and bad news. The bad news is the pull is $21 and the cog is $13.50. The good news is both parts have been improved. The pull was redesigned so that the posts are separate parts that can now be replaced if they fail, but the newer design is much stronger than the old one. The cog pin now has deeper weld penetration.

Okay, thanks for the info. I noticed the pull doesn't seem to be on your web store. How should I go about ordering it?

How many guide plates should I buy at this point? Also, will the TS1398X left side magazine half work with my TS-1 magazine? (I think its a TS)

The cog pull will need to be added into the comment section, part #TS1114. I would say 2 guide plates should be good. The one you have still looks like it may work, once you take the broken pin out if the slot.

Magazines are completely backwards compatible.

GUMBY!

Gumby - ( thread hijack )

Looks to be he was having the same problem I am with my buddies Ts-1.

I will get some pictures tonight and compare to what this user posted and see if the gun is having the same issues.

This is a TS-1 that I'm not sure has ever been sent in for updates. Are there a lot more updates needed to make this a reliable marker?

My friend told me he would like to send it in and get all parts updates from the manufacturer in hopes of getting it to work for more than a few clips before it breaks again. (As much as he loves this gun, it has never made it through a full day of play wihtout critcally failing )

What's the word on CO2 on these things anyhow? Are they a complete no-no now? I know this one shipped with a 9oz CO2 when he got it.

IMHO the best bet would be to have it converted to HPA only. The TS1's could run on both HPA and Co2 but when running on CO2 the marker had to many issues. (after firing for a time operating pressures drop with CO2 especially durning colder days).
Doing the HPA Conversion updates some of the internals and reduces the over all issues that happen while using Co2.
As for all the current ATS markers, they are all HPA only now.
Going to strickly HPA elimnated lots of the earlier issues with the ATS.

LT,

I recently picked up a ATS85 that works fine for my father. We run strictly CO2 here, so I was hoping if I supplied my pops a remote with a PPS stab, it would eliminate most of these issues and stresses for him. Would you agree?

Any idea what the full HPA conversion runs cost wise?

And what do they do to it exactly?

It might, but the Conversion is cheaper in the long run. But again I always recommend that anyone using an ATS use HPA.
Even after running through an expansion chamber the temp of the CO2 still remains questionable. And if CO2 gets to cold (even after adding an extrenal expansion chamber or Stablizer) it will loose its pressure. ATS need a consitant pressure to run properly and CO2 just doesnt do that consistantly enough no matter what is done with it (again IMHO).

The full conversion is 50.00 plus shipping. Mostly it cosists of oring and seal changes inside removing a secondairy filter (inside the ASA) and couple other things.
Sorry I dont have any pics Gumby might but some how I doubt that he does (unless he has taken some in the last couple of minutes )
