So, my ebay 'buddy' says I should have this puppy delivered Wednesday. It'll only have taken a dozen email and 40 days.

Before shipping the seller claimed he 'just' powered it up and noticed it's leaking through the barrel. I'm not exactly surprised.

Anyone want to venture a guess as to what may be wrong with it?

I'd love to hear some nightmare ATS stories out there from those who work on them or may have picked one up via Ebay/used. No doubt It'll help prepare me for what this poor thing may have been through.

Well, the guy initially claimed that he was away on business, then discovered the leak and said he was working on it and finally he claimed to have just taken a new job and that he'd been tied up.

He wrote me last week after I told him I was still willing to leave positive feedback (not sure if I will at this point) and said he shipped it. He hadn't claimed this before so I am playing along with it until Friday at which point I am going to start the whole Paypal dispute process.

I'm thinking something has to be VERY wrong with the gun for a dude with 50 positive feedback to be this slack.

The whole mess makes me seriously question buying on ebay from individual sellers.

Ah eBay guns. I've seen them run from "dead guns" that were just missing a regulator spring to "Slight leaks" that were missing valves. It's a bit of a crap shoot but there can be jewels to be found. Barrel leaks can be simple, low tank output pressure can cause it, or a bit more like a damaged cup seal. The main valve is only about $20 so even if the whole thing is seized up it's not that expensive to fix.

I bought my AT-85 on eBay and have fired about 100 good shots through it (none of which were on the field ), but it's never worked quite right even after a few self-rebuilds and a trip to LT @ Northern Command. The previous owner had torqued on a tank so hard it clocked the ASA about 15 degrees, crushed the reg guts, somehow flattened one side of the unisizer, etc. My current problem seems to be with either the magazine chains or more likely the cog pull/guide plate. This was the first gun I ever bought used, and in hindsight, I wish I'd just purchased one new. Much like mech cockers, there are quite a few things a ham-handed user can do to royally F ATS guns right up if they don't RTFM and take care of the marker properly. Fortunately most of the easily damaged parts aren't too expensive, and at the price you paid even a factory overhaul to get it working will still be a good deal.

Why anyone would set a low BIN price and then not follow through I don't understand. Deal or not I'd definently leave em a negative.. or at least a neutral and really low ratings.

Anyway, you know I'm local. If he pulls any more BS I can just go pick it up and ship it to you... just LMK

It's definitely been a lesson in patience, anger management in dealing with this dude. I'm quite tempted to blast him but I'm concerned about getting bogus neg feedback. I'm not clear on if the new ebay feedback policy (no negs from sellers) covers sales closed before the new rules were instituted.

Man, Mayvik that's definitely a nightmare scenario. I didn't even know you could trash an ATS that bad. How did the seller describe the markers condition? I'm holding out a little hope that it'll just be something simple.

I had a really tough time working on ATS mags until I picked up some really small (smaller than most hardware stores sell) 'jewelers' needle nose pliers. If you don't already have a pair you may want to track one down.

MaD - thanks for the offer man. I may just throw in the towel if this isn't resolved in the next couple days but I will definitely let you know.

Now, if LT would just get those new ATS configs done I'd be too poor and busy to even think about ebay again.

Thanks for the support guys.

It was described as used in working condition, of course! To be fair his "girlfriend" shipped the marker from MI while he was in Canada (supposedly) so technically not is fault on part of the damage. The unisizer was left on the barrel, loose in the box, which is why it was crushed. He refunded me the price of ordering a new one. Regulator crunch was due to screwing things in too far, and the ASA..well I have no idea how he did that, must have gone Hulk one day with his tank.

WOOT! I had an AT-85 waiting for me when I swung by the house at lunch time today. After 48 days I have my "deal of the year".

The body is intact if a bit scratched, has the old style 'not a unisizer', unfortunately the regulator screw isn't marked. Thankfully, all the internal parts are there and.. besides being covered in paint and muck .. look ok.

I need to fill up my HPA tank and see how she shoots this weekend.

Now I'm wondering what should I do about the feedback for this seller? I got the gun and it was a deal.. but it took 48 days and terrible communication, outright lies about shipping status.

That gun is awesome, the deal is even awesomer.... Ya, I said awesomer.
It looks to be in pretty good condition.

As for feedback, I don't know either. I would give him a negative rating, but explain the situation.
