I'd leave a neutral with the following:

Great deal on a decent marker but it took 48 days and multiple e-mails to receive the item.

Or, you could just blow it off, skip the feedback and avoid the potential of a retaliatory neg or neutral. I've done that before on unpleasant deals that eventually worked out.

Hey Gumby,

This guy has a serial number of A10170. Can you tell me if it's an AT85 or a TS1 ?

I'm just wondering if I need to get the internals updated to the newer HPA setup.

Thanks

That serial number puts it right in the change-over. It may have the updated parts, plus there is the chance they sent it in for repairs/upgrades after it was made. There are a couple of fast ways to check the level. First way is to remove the housing from the receiver and look at the top of the cycle/spool/3-way valve. If it is a one piece stainless spool it's the new one, if it's brass it's the older style.

Gumby...didn't you scratch "HPA" above the serial number on converted guns

I ended up leaving the guy neutral feedback indicating shipping, communication was very poor.

I scoured my workshop and I can't seem to find torx screwdrivers small enough to open the housing so I'll be running to the store this afternoon.

A couple differences I noted.. the receiver is missing the small horizontal screw to help retain magazines and the hammer is silver in color rather than the brown (brass?) of my newer AT-85.

You should only need a 5/64" and a 3/32" to take the housing out. Leave those Torx screws alone, they are pressure lines.

The magazine well screw is to prevent people from putting the magazine into the receiver backwards. They don't always get put in, it is required on all guns we send to the govt just because I don't trust them to figure out how to install the magazine.

The hammer's color is due to a heat treatment. Last two batches had something change the color, we don't call out the final color since it had no effect on the operational side of things. Plus I like red and reddish things better anyway.

Glad I didn't get to the store in time to wreck my marker.

Thanks again Gumby.

You would not have been the first to do it.

Repo is correct, I used to scratch HPA over serial numbers when we were building both HPA and CO2 model. If it was a conversion for a couple of years I even put my own little tag on the housing where most would not find it.

Finally got a chance to dig into this marker and it looks like it may be the old style CO2 setup.

Are there any other ways to tell if it's been upgraded has been done on it? I don't see any marks near the serial number.

Thanks.

Old style cycle valve, new style main valve. Look in the ASA. If there is a brass filter then it is set-up for CO2. No filter does not 100% mean it is HPA but better than average chances.
