More BPS please :)

Alright, playing with some really great guys here locally (mostly speedball :S ) and we have a gentleman's agreement that ATS F/A is completely fine since they are all using ramping... The problem is I still can't keep up Any recommendations for pumping out a few more BPS? I guess I'm sitting at 12 or 13 and 15 or 16 would be fantastic.

I know I know, It shouldn't make that much of a difference, but when I'm out with my ICD FS8 (without ramping) I can still throw out a lot more paint, and there are situations when shooting as fast as possible is extremely important (Lanes).

My Ats takes almost 20 seconds to drain a full hopper (granted that is with a full feedneck and magazine) and I can easily dump my magna on my fs8 in a touch over 10 (ramping, standard 13 or so).

Yes, I could just use my speedball marker for speedball, but my ATS has so much more personality! not to mention, I'd love to change their minds about how electro is the only way to play speedball.

So two part question:

How do I get more speed out of my ATS?
How fast can it operate without fear of damage?

Thanks in advance!

And yes, this is a serious question I really play speedball with an ATS marker

I dont believe you can make the ATS gun fire faster than 12 or 13 bps.

Honestly if you need more than that many BPS to lane you need to learn to shoot better lanes...

Look at any of the OSC videos, they lane with a pump and shoot people off the break.

The ATS guns fire at the max cyclical rate possible for Nelson Valve systems. You lose consistancy and get drop off at any faster of a rate.

On that note, I just discovered my Shocker Sport has Turbo mode (disregarding the huge jewel on the side that says "Turbo..."). I'm gonna have fun with that. 12 BPS, HERE I COME!!!

Edit: Well, that was quite OT. My apologies.

You could try QEVs on the ram, but something tells me that heebs is right, it tops out around there, Though I suspect you could theoretically go faster.

Red, which AT are you using? Are you playing the back man? I cannot speak for the rest of the folks on here, but I rarely play speedball if any. I have run with an AT-85 with just a 13cu bottle and two forward loaders on a speedball field. I have been meaning to get an AT10 body and barrel just for speedball.

I am not telling you how to play, but I would use the size, weight and accuracy of the gun instead of volume dumping. Let the agg, and electro-pneumatic air tools dump paint all day. Because of the accuracy, the AT makes a great snap shooter; since it is so light, you can really move with it. I guess I am suggesting for you to try playing with the AT as if you are playing speedball with a pump. The bonus is that you can actually cycle 10~12 bps a second when it becomes a pucker moment.

Good luck sir...and I am sure when you go Rock-N-Roll/FA, everybody hears you and pauses a second.

I've played a LOT of speedball games with my AT85. There IS a brief pause when you first let the beast loose (brapbrapbrapbrapbrapbrapbrapbrap), and then EVERYONE starts shooting at YOU. It's a paint magnet . I suggest back side corner of the field, and make sure there's a good fast runner on the other side of the field. As everyone tunnel visions on to you (and they will), he'll have an easy time moving up the field. When he gets mid field he'll probably be noticed, and everyone will shift their attention to him. That's when you stop your barrage and start working up the field.

I'm not big into speedball however I'm going to put my two cents in here anyway.

I can't imagine, with as long as ATS has been around that if the guns could be made to go faster the information wouldn't already be out there.

I see the strengths of the system in speed ball as Snapshooting and shooting on the run. I don't know your style of play but those are the strong points that I see with the gun that you are/will be using.

This issue has been gone over with people like punisher and Doc when they did some Phantom semi-conversions, the max useable rate of fire they could sustain was in the 12-16 bps department.

this thread might help some -

semi-auto phantom

on semi, most people DONT shoot more than 13-15bps.... ramping leveled that out.

with a f/a marker, you should be fine with 12bps...

to me, it sounds like you want more firepower to do the work for you.... rather than you do the work and let the firepower ACCENT what you do on the field.

a lane at 12bps is a lane at 12bps... doenst matter what gun it comes from or who is shooting it.... its still a stream of paint at 12bps.... most of the people who played in the tourney we just did this past weekend couldnt top 12bps... but on top of that, when they tried to lane, it was 3-5 balls that came in your area.... not an actual stream of paint... where as, myself and my team (i practice running and gunning a lot) were actually placing a lot of paint where we wanted, and used less than the other teams.... because we could HIT what we were targeting.

your gun should NEVER hold you back when playing... if you feel it is, in any way... its time to change to something different/better.

with that said... I play pump almost 50% of the time overall... but when tourney time comes... no matter how much i WANT to use a pump... i know that it will hold me back as a player, so i use a semi.
