Question from a Sniper n00b: Is a backblock...

a backblock? I mean, the only features I can imagine are cosmetic, weight, and the abillity to accept a second pump arm. Is there anything else? Or are they all basically the same? Thanks

Depends. A pre 2k Back block is thicker so it can effect what bolt you use

Good to know. So a pre2k will have a thicker backblock and a longer bolt? Can a 2k bolt/blackblock combo swap onto a pre2k, and vicve versa?

your back block will determine what length bolt u use, beside the pre 2k and 2k kind u have the reverse p back block.

Actually, the real "dinosaur era" Autococker cocking blocks had great thread support, and didn;t develop the "block-wobble" a lot of later P-blocked guns did. I used to skeletonize the full-size blocks internally, so they looked stock on the outside but were very light. It was quick and didn't need refinishing to cover your tracks...
