THE-SHOOTIST Anyone chubbin' like me for this?
mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...

Okay folks, I need to figure out how many guns are going to be sent in for stock anodizing, with the surface finish you see here.

It isn't gloss, but it pretties things up without going completely into body polishing.

(note, I'll be PMing this message to make sure everyone sees it)

Sign in here and just plant an "X" corresponding to your name and desired finish. This isn't binding, and I will confirm it later to make sure we don't have any vandals screwing things up.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...UpKOWVYSDF0cFE

I'm not going to discuss price here - I'll update as I get confirmation. The only free option is the first on the left - stock finish and colour as seen above.

all i know is, if you're gonna make an o-ring groove on the 12g knob to fix this problem, better do it now so it looks better when it's anodized. 40 tiny cuts on a lathe to fit the thinnest o-ring you can find at the hardware store. it doesn't have to hold a seal or anything, just to prevent movement. even my spyder barrels have thin orings.

not gonna happen, heinous. several reasons that isn't the way to do it... I won't go into it. its practically a non issue anyways, I've not had a problem on field. future guns may use a polyurethane seal which is softer and has more spring, keeping the knob under more tension.

the slate grey on the dust finish looks different than it would on satin, but I agree it's a nice color. I think the gunmetal will turn out great a bit darker (that's what we're shooting for right now).

PS the slate grey dust phantom photo is way too red on the white balance... if you balance it correctly you can see it's basically a neutral grey (not a slate grey, which has a slight blue tint to it). in color slang, you basically have:

grey, slate grey, gunmetal grey, pewter grey
no blue ------------------------> more blue

So really, i think you guys that really dig that "dust slate" finish on the phantom are really looking for, is a grey with a bit of red to it... not blue.

DPH is not an option right now, honestly the stock finish is way easier to do and looks just as good

I'm trying to work away from finishes which require manual blasting, there is a chance of inconsistencies showing up after anodize which I don't like. consistent mechanical finishes like the satin polish treatment (aka stock finish) are much more reliable

edit: since we won't know the actual price offset for black until AFTER we do them, I'm going to say: $20 extra for black this batch. Except for Reaper, cause I owe him one.

as for the list: I will finalize it tomorrow... anyone that hasn't chosen will default to stock finish and color. We will begin anodizing by Wednesday of next week!

fair enough, if people want to change their minds over the weekend due to a slightly darker shade of grey, that's fine. I just really want to get these guns on the assembly line

It's only 1" longer than the stock r7 barrel which is 5". I think it's the color contrast, if everything was match anodized it would look better

a real death star would be pretty amazing, as long as its not called the death star... that is a really heat score name. Would definitely get blown up by rebels/humanitarians/people that want to live.

Also, not blowing up inhabited planets is smart. Maybe use the big gun for asteroid defense, or mining black holes.
