Tactical AV-R7 aka Mega7ron

Firstly, I would love to thank Alpha / Chris for pulling off an absolutely fantastic job on this. I couldnt have done this without his help. Secondly, to Josh / Apoc for making an amazing platform. Even with the rails the R7 still balances very very nicely. The grip is super comfortable. Almost feels like it belongs in your hand. Absolutely wonderful to the touch!

This started off as a fascination that lead to a dream that was executed. There is one main theme and a sub-theme for want of a word. I wanted to create a FSR marker that I would love to play with. A fun yet challenging pc.

So it started off with this as an idea:

This project only clicked when I saw Bigtuana's sale thread with the pictures of the "naked" AV-R7. Upon seeing his pictures, I realized that this was the perfect platform to pull off the Megatron look and yet make it look real steel in nature. So I went unto several gun sites and began downloading several pictures like the following for guidance:

and

and this for inspiration

Then I stumbled upon the Magnifi apparatus (more on this later) and I knew I wanted to have the ability to record FSR footage through my scope (hence the scope option and the rails). With that the scope of the project changed slightly again.

I know I am skipping a few steps in this project, namely the doodles, drawings, getting in on the pre order list at the time and winning the "Wheel of Fortune / R7" contest. Ill skip the build pictures as well and proceed to the finished eye candy.

So it all culminates with me receiving this box today:

um yeah..... seems like stuff leaving CO is under heavy scrutiny!

No the iron sights arent fixed to the Whoosh but I am seriously playing around with this idea........ hmmm

So the only "kink" in this is that the Magnifi does not slip all the way down on the scope. It gets in snugly but because I am an umph short the alignment is slightly off. I am getting about 90% clarity on the iphone, 1x zoom (vs 3x) and a small picture profile on the iphone's screen. Its functional but not the whole enchilada for a want of words.

So what's next?

Playing around with the Magnifi apparatus for starters. Tuning this baby up to get 40 to 50 useable shots. Awaiting my 12 in (vs the 14" pictured) Earon barrel with flutes and a 1.5" OD Whoosh (vs the 1.25" OD pictured). The rest would be a surprise :)...

Also..... many thanks to Josh, Russc, Sniper, Ironchef and Bigtuana for your patience as I harassed you guys for measurements and other odd-ends information that helped me push this project along when I didnt have my own R7 to measure.

Thanks also to Alpha for his patience! lol...... I was a nag at times...

Just saw its for first strike.. doh!

lol no worries. Yes, this set-up is for FSR-ONLY. When its time to play pump, ill just dismantle the grip-rail-mount and put on the pump kit in its place.

Need more scantily clad women holding it....

It looks good. But it looks great in a person's hands. The ergonomics are absolutely fantastic for shooting from a kneel.

So what exactly is keeping the magnifi from going all the way onto the scope? Also any pics of this setup?
