What inserts to buy?!
So as a previous fixed barrel brass guy, I don't own any inserts yet. I'm in line for a gen 3 retro 7 with a mag slide and I've got the freak bore barrel option too. On the Avratech site it lists that the stock barrel is .680 but what does that mean for the freak bored barrel? Is it just a stock barrel bored out for inserts? If so, I assume I don't need anything larger than the .680 insert. Right? Any help is appreciated!!

The freak bored barrel is a stock barrel that is bored out and does NOT come with an insert. You'll have to buy one whether it's a Smart Parts freak, or a TyMc brass intsert (the latter recommended :))
You shouldnt need anything over .680 unless you're in an area of really large paint. The insert barrel is mainly for folks who have super small paint that even .680 wont hold.
Did that answer all of your questions? I may have missed one or two.

I bought Ty McNeer brass inserts. I got .685, .680, and .675. The .680 seems to fit my local paint well. But I have used the .685 without issue. So there should be no problem using larger inserts with the Freak barrel.

I was thinking of starting with a .675 and .680. If I need anything smaller i can get that in the future. I had some paint that was sub .670 this summer but it was crap JT I bought at Wally World when I was in a pinch for testing a marker.
While I suppose you could use an insert bigger than the bore of the barrel, I guess it wouldn't matter as long as the paint would get through the .680 barrel. To keep things simple though, a .680 insert should be the biggest I need.

yep, .680 is the largest bore I regularly use... larger is required for FSRs but I don't usually shoot them with most of my guns. .675 is great for smaller paint.

So to clarify, the ID of the tip of the freak-bored barrel is still .680?

hell no. the tip section of the freak-bored barrel is ID .700", which is the same ID as the tip of most 2-piece barrels.

ApoC delivers. As usual.
