First, this is not a WTB thread. I am looking for information about the different markers... Hi Everyone, I am thinking about picking up a Bob long marker. I would prefer to purchase something that isn't going to need upgrades. Also, looking for one with all internal air lines, unless there is an equivalent that has external lines, but is a lot cheaper. I was looking at the G6R or the Victory. G6R seems to be a popit, similar to an ego, or cyborg, and the Victory seems to be a spoolie like a Geo or clone. Any preferences between the two? Any upgrades that I should be looking for to come with it? How's the maintenance on these things? And, what are the advantages between the two? Air Efficiency? weight? (Although I am not too concerned since I have been shooting Vikings lately). Any and all advice and opinions are welcome, and I mean no disrespect by comparing either to other markers like the ego etc, more just from an operating standpoint. I have really only heard great things about Bob Long and they have been around for a long time, so I figured it might be time to give one a shot. Thanks

I love G6R's. They are light, great efficiency, and they rip. The new model being released has an OLED board. I play pump but if I didn't that would be my marker. I have heard a lot of negative from owners about support and getting parts. Just some bad mojo throughtout the community. I definitely suggest an Ego or Geo. Call me a fanboy but I just think they are nicer.

Both of them are poppet valve markers. One is inline obviously. I'm no expert, so I recommend Google.

Cool, yea, as I was reading around, I realized that they were both popits. Now just figuring out which fits me better. Thank you!

The victory has an enclosed bolt, which prevents dirt etc. from getting into the bolt and valve. The G6R bolt is not enclosed This difference may or may not be important: a lot of people play with markers with exposed bolts (e.g. Egos, cockers) with no problems. Efficiency of their guns tends to be the considered the among the best in paintball. The support from the manufacturer seems to be spotty. They are known to release and ship guns without manuals or even oring charts. So, maintenance and troubleshooting information is left to users on the forums. However, I have no problem getting a tech on the phone whenever I call BLAST. I've heard stories from different sources of guns not working out of the box, e.g. with leaks or manufacturing defects. My own Closer arrived with the LPR set above 100psi, way too high. The 2011 G6R has some sort of problem with the ASA that makes it thread tank orings. The victory can have a problem where the back cap pops up while the gun is aired up, causing (in one instance I am aware of) the entire bolt to eject out the back of the gun. In spite of it all, Bob has a dedicated following, and the G6R has breathed new life into the venerable Intimidator line of guns. |

Why don't you just by an Axe and save a ton? The whole pressure testing concept, etc. just turned me off from them completely. Now shoot an Axe with a Lurker bolt and can't imagine a smoother, more quiet and efficient gun. Not to mention I saved a ton of green and can fix the thing blindfolded if need be. And parts are CHEAP.

Gen2 or Gen3 Timmy. Simple to maintain. The only "upgrade" needed is an adjustable ram cap but damn near all you find online will have them. Shots per tank, shy of a case on a 68/45. If you can find a Necroram, you can get if not go over a case on a 68 but its not needed. The balancing the regs really isnt needed. The last one I sold I set the pressures here at the house for 280-285fps & told Colby to adjust the HPR a little if needed. Me, I will spend 20 minutes over a chrono & a bag of paint setting regs. I could get 3 back to back games in (playing back) with my 88ci & a hot 3k fill. While other guys were thinking about a top off after the first game & running to refill after the second game. They were shooting DYE, PE, Mini & cockers. IF a gen2 or 3 is a bit heavy, look into the Gen5 (Vice). A good bit lighter, grip is thinner but they are a little more finky than the older ones but not bad.

I'd put the axe on par with the Victory's smoothness. As far as the pressure balancing thing, I really don't get the big deal with it. It takes 10 minutes if you are super slow at it and it ensures that your gun is running at the recommended pressures (Instead of just blindly adjusting LPR on something like an Ego). Not to mention the very most you would want to check those pressures is once a month. A lot of people let them sit much longer than that.

Victory has a better feel and smaller profile. G6r is smoother, quieter and more efficient. I absolutely love my G6r, but bc ive been a spoolie and mag shooter for so many years I personally do prefer the victory since im use to the smaller profile.
