be raptor sputtering

sometimes it will recock fully and be fine. most of the time, however, it sputters and won't recock. i have to then recock it. it happens so irregularly but more of the time than not.

i assume it's either:

1. a problem with the sear

2. or the hammer spring is weak

i've a full tank and gun is getting the pressure it needs and is properly lubed. the spring is pretty old and if i crank up the velocity, it does seem to lessen the problem SOME, but not much. so i'm really thinking it's the sear. but what to do?

Take the trigger frame off the marker and look at the top corner of the sear. if it's rounded off, replace it, or file it square. If it's still a sharp edge, your sear spring needs to be replaced, if not look at the striker, if the surface where the sear catches is worn down, you need to replace that.

The sear on Raptors is one of the weak points, and they're hard to come by. I've had success slightly deepening the notch on the hammer to give the sear a little more meat to bite into. Be careful not to deepen it too much, as you'll penetrate thru the wall.

Also, the valve has a grub screw holding it in place. If it's in too far and the valve is oriented with the re-cock hole towards the bottom, it can choke off the re-cock gas. Remove your striker and look at the valve, if it's oriented this way, rotate it so the hole's at the top.

to add to Hurtcows comment, when I teched my friends raptor cause it would full auto and not recock I found that the valve lug was in to far and pinched on the valve stem holding the valve open some blue loctite fixed this problem.
