The history actually starts with BE's first attempt at a semi-auto, the Eagle.

VintageRex.com | - The Official Online Paintball Museum

It would have been one of the very first Semi-auto's, if the darn thing had worked right. Very picky about temperature, and had an overly complicated closed bolt blowback system. Of the 100 made nearly all were recalled.

So, when BE made a second attempt at a semi-auto with the Golden Eagle they pulled out all the stops and over built the sucker as much as they could.

Of course Bacci has 2 of those.

apparently they asked one of their designers to design the most hideous marker ever conceived, and one that could hold that title for all time...

Don't these have like 200+ parts? I had a trigger shoe from one, but my roomie traded it on me.

I'd love to have one of these some day.

No, no more than a typical early blowback.

I have a picture somewhere of the hammer/bolt/linkage of mine sitting next to those of a M98. It feels like almost 2 pounds of reciprocating mass. The 2 links from the bolt to hammer are 1/4x1/16" flatbar and about a foot long. They alone almost weigh as much as the hammer from the 98.

Ahem, I think that honour goes to the powerdrill Tippmann.

But on topic, I think I saw one of these at a pro-shop in London, Ontario. It was a grey one, I hadn't even heard of them at the time though.

I wasn't aware they made them in gray... You sure it wasn't a Poison?
Either way, both are fun markers.

EDIT: Just saw pwpaintball's post.

The original color was grey. Most of the green ones I've seen (mine included) were field rentals.

How about you green monster owners, were they once field rentals?

Poison's were a light blue, almost grey color.

I love playing with that tank. It's kick makes a VM68 feel like it has an MQ
