DD68 Adjustable Dtente Mod

When I picked this up, I sent DM6Rocker a PM because he had acquired the Sister to this one. While discussing the two we came upon the topic of the large bores. He said that one of the previous owners of his had taken the Snub Screw and rounded the tip off to make a dtente. I thought this sounded like a good idea, but with the large variances in sizes of paint anymore, I thought a dtente that one could adjust might be more beneficial, so I set out to make me one.

First thing I did was remove the old Snub Screw. It was stripped so I had to use a Garb-It. Not a big deal since I was going to need a longer screw anyway.

So, I found a screw that would be long enough and made sure it would work:

I added a nut so I can adjust it's depth and then lock it down:

Once I had that done, I took the screw back out and used my dremel to round the tip off:

Once that was done, I put it back and adjusted it to a decent depth, then locked the nut down:
Then I dropped a Reball down the Barrel:

From the rear.
Without a ball:
Ball dropped down the barrel:
Loaded Breech side:

So far, it works great. I did a few rounds through it with some DXS paint that fit rather snug inside a .679 and decent in a .682. No roll outs and it no breaks. She's going back to Carter's for some lovin'. I'll do another test when it gets back.

Nice job, if possible I would recommend buffing it with the dremel buffing wheel and some red compound...I saw the screw in dm6rocker's and it was polished so that it was really smooth.

That's a good idea. I've got one of those in my kit so I can do that. I'll wait till it gets back though so I'll clean off anything that may get on it during it's fixin'.

It's going out tomorrow. It would have gone out today but I couldn't bring myself to box it up.
