Hi guys, it seems like there is a lot of frustration on both sides here. I can understand the OPs feelings of being ignored as well as the others who may have been contacted on multiple occasions for things that aren't their responsibility. I'm going to leave this open for now but keep a good eye on it. Everyone seems to has behaved so far and refrained from personal attack and flaming, please keep up the good behavior. As a business owner I want the customers to give me feedback on how I'm doing so I can take steps to improve, just because many of us love CM doesn't mean there isn't an issue here or a legit complaint. If you wish to discuss this with me please do so via PM. As it stands right now the thread remains open.

as previously posted, Demonio isn't an employee of Carter Machine, and while someone may have suggested you contact him, that certainly doesn't mean he has any obligation to communicate with you. furthermore, Carter Machine is also not under any obligation to communicate or do business with you - i may have missed the sign as the shop is a little cluttered, but i'm sure they "reserve the right to refuse service."
and, wow, you're not alone in this terrible sage - others, apparently, are with you in the quest for the mythical email reply. free advice: never buy a bob long marker... you may be disappointed.
a BBB complaint? if a had a penny for every time one of those came across my desk, i could get up off the couch, get in the car, drive across town to Carters, buy your parts, box 'em, ship 'em, and still have money left. you are not owed anything, Carter Machine is not under contractual obligation to provide you any service, and, i would guess, they most likely won't have any interest with doing business with you - ever; customers that post rants on message boards, without having even purchased any thing (guess you could call them pre-customers), are not the kind of people a business wants to be in... business with.
i would advise researching parts availability the next time you trade for half a gun.
I agree, but what is with random Bob Long smash?

Anyhow, I had a few Carters before. I after 9months of nothing, i sold my carters and decided to switch to a CCM and a Phantom. Something breaks or if I need a part, bam, a day or two later its in the mail.

This is no smash on Carter's. They are nice guns, but with basically no support, I decided I would rather be playing than looking at my gun.

That's why I advocate getting a full replacement parts set with full custom guns like carters. I'm still working on mine for my boxgun. Then if some goes you have a spare and then you also have a model to maybe have another made by another machinist if necessary.

It is what it is. Carter Machine is somewhat of a garage operation. Earon makes amazing guns, but he sure as hell needs a paid web/CS assistant.

There isn't an excuse to not communicate with customers/potential customers when you run a business. It's sloppy, you lose customers and you gain a bad rep, as seen here.

The amount of business CM would gain if he hired a minimum wage CS assistant would far outweigh the cost. Yes I know that Earon has a LOT of work on his hands but his CS assistant could simply say "your gun will be ready in a year or two" and if the customer is fine with that then the customer is fine with that.

Communication is vital, with everything, including a business.

Look at Mike at CCI, he's prototyping, answering all phone calls, building and teching his guns, he's doing just about everything besides actually producing each and every gun, and I'm sure he helps with that too.

I bought my mini buzzard used and not new even when CM had guns in stock simply because of the communication. Was it worth it? I don't know. But still.

Edit: a good system would be to make an "order template". The customer would fill it in, include their shipping address, send it to Demonio and paypal the money. Bam, done.

I think their website basically lets you do an order template.

In any case, the difference between Carter and CCI is that Carter is literally manually making every single part. CCI is all CNC, with hand assembly, which allows a heck of a lot more free time to deal with other things. Carter can't increase his output without going to automation, and that probably isn't going to happen.

All he needs to do is have someone taking care of the spare parts, repairs and little stuff, or at least someone who can be kept accountable with emails. Demonio is doing a great service, but in the end he simply isn't getting paid to do it, so why should he make it his job?

I have been thinking about it alot lately. I love carters, I love talking to people, I am homeschooled, I have a lot of free time. I wonder if I could apply for a customer service position at carter machine. I think I could do it well. Only problem is that I live about 2 hours away from earon so there would be few chances to meet together.

I am going to start looking into it.
