So messing around w/ my new (to me) buzzard tonight, I discovered that not all autococker threading is the same. When I tried 3 different barrels (2x old style freak backs w/ "freak" cut-outs in back, and 1 old Warped Sports barrel) they wouldn't thread... THEN just for the hell of it I checked my Kaner Barrel, New Freak Barrel back and a Deadlywinds barrels, and they all DID thread. I decided it was time to break out the caliper and see why the other 3 wouldn't. Come to find out the first three have a threading outer diameter of .925in, where-as the stock carter barrel and the three that fit are all around .916in... ...maybe I'm just slow and never knew. The weird thing is I've never had any other issues w/ the .925in backs threading in my cocker-threaded guns... Just thought it was weird and figured I'd post it up... I'll get a pic up of the Buzzard (w/ the RTR pump handle I bought back in DEC ) when I can get a pic of it in some daylightEDIT/ADD: So I'm probably going to have Earon bore the barrel and get a set of inserts, but I was thinking does anyone know of any good 1 inch outer diameter barrel in the .680-.685 range... that might tide me over till I scrouge up the fundage for the Carter inserts

maybe a cocker bull barrel bored for freaks? ive noticed deadlywind threads are real small. if you thread them all the way except a couple turns you can wiggle the end back and forth.

Not all cocker threading is created equal. I know dye barrels fit nicely. So go find .690 ultralite back and have it bored. Then pick up a cheap tip from ebay or the BST here. Talk to Stacnhy he probably has something with the dimension your looking for for a good price also. But just be warned carter's don't always play nice with smaller freak inserts. If you search there are a few threads here about what people have done to overcome these issues. Most come down to adding an o ring or two to the barrel and changing the bolt o ring to a smaller one. But they are good reads.

A little slop. I would definitely save up for the inserts from Earon. I prefer them to freak inserts, by far. If Stanchy does see if he can put the bevel in the barrel and if it's possible to bore it a little more so the insert sits flush with the bevel. He might charge a bit more but it will be worth it in the long run.
