About that barrel

Carters should be autococker threaded so you know what type of barrel you look for and then narrow it down to the outer diameter of the barrel, something that'll fit inside of your pump. As for inserts I have carter and freak for different applications. It's all preference.

If you go the freak insert route I recommend stainless steel ones, Mine are aluminum and color anno and they tend to get finicky on the smaller bore inserts. But then maybe it's just me...

cocker threaded yes - but keep in mind most carter buzzards (not sure on other models) like to have a small bevel in the back end of the barrel/insert setup. Sometimes that is what causes issues with them - the bolt face likes to sit right in there with the o-ring so sometimes free floating inserts are not always happy.

All Carters have that beveled barrel.

Quick question for you all:

I see some buzzards are BBA (I think? Back-bottle-adapter?) While others just have the changer vertically. Was one of these a special order? Can it be converted if wanted?

Thanks!

Yes it can be converted between the two. You just have to make sure you get the proper parts. Carters vary through the years.
