That's what Earon told me, and well it works. He also uses springs that have less coils than Maddman springs and are thinner coils. Maddman kits sometimes bind in his guns.

8-9 coils on the main spring and 10 on the vlv I believe.

Most consistent Nelson I ever shot was my 09 Ghost. That whay I put a set of Laco Grey Ghost internals in my Gargoyle. Gargoyle is closed bolt cocker threaded like a Crter, and that helps consistencies as well. But yea Eric. Ball to barrel matching is also a factor.
Then as light a main/valve spring combo as you can find.

THE-SHOOTIST Anyone chubbin' like me for this?
mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...
tlane77 He's got a woody for your woods.

That is all true.

Earon doesn't flute his hammers. He doesn't see a need to with putting a heavy valve spring in. If he lightened the hammer then he would put in a lighter valve spring. I talked to him about it once, and he said that he tried it and didn't see any performance difference from the way he was doing it. If it is setup properly it will work the same as long as the ratios are correct.
