tend to vary - I have older buzzards and one runs on blue front green back the other runs on a blue front yellow back

I had a black buzzard awhile back that was happiest red front blue back

=/ no hard fast rule of thumb usually trial and error =/

I have a post dye buzzard. I'm going to try red valve, blue main and see If that gets me anywhere. Although it seems you're doing stronger main spring

I think most nelsons need to run a stronger main spring over the valve spring. On the other hand Most snipers and autocockers you tune for a stronger valve spring and a lighter hammer spring for efficiency sake.

My buzzards were tuned for consistency and pump stroke but not so much for efficiency.

all depends on your priorities =)

How do you tune for consistency? I thought that was just a matter of your paint and barrel match?

Btw, I switched to google chrome that has built in spell check on everything I type, no more horrid spelling

springs are also related just not as much as barrel/bore sizing is. But it is related - some folks used to swear by hardening/cooking springs to get less variance - problem is taking the time to test them.

There are different parts to the equation and some things behave differently in co2 vs air as well /shrug

Im just an old dog watchin you youngsters with new tricks =)

How old was that black buzzard?

I'd like to try and take out alot of guesswork, and just go play this weekend. That's why I'm asking for suggestions.

It all depends. I have found that Carter's seem to like a strong vlv and lighter main spring combo. Due the the heavy hammer that Earon uses.

This is my understanding as well, that is how mine are setup. They both cock without air.
