Carter Efficiency

Out of all the current Carter Machine markers made, is any one or two more efficient than the others? Like, is a boxgun more efficient than a duck or mini-comp more so than a buzzard?

It depends more on the setup than the gun. A BBA setup will be more efficient than a in-grip, and that will be more so than lever/slam changer. Springs also come into play and Earon setups his springs depending on the setup and also how the gun chronos. He might switch the springs up if they need it.

Paint to barrel match also comes into play along with barrel length and porting.

My old mini buzzard was a beast. I could get 40-45 good shots the first 30 being +/- 3-4. It was a BBA, 14" barrel spiral ported (5" of porting) with inserts.

My old boxgun would get similar shots but have a more steady curve out to 35-40. then it would drop off quickly. It was BBA with a 6.67" barrel spiral ported (1.5" of porting) with inserts.

My new boxgun needs be broken in still but gets about 35 shots. It's a ingrip with a 2" extended barrel and heavy porting.

The spring setups on the first two were light main heavy valve. I still haven't had to tear the new one apart yet so I'm not sure I forgot to ask.

Cool, good post! I'm toying with the idea of whether to get a level charger or standard in grip, and either way I'm also going to get the bba->rat setup so I'll always be able to fall back on that. $650 is a lot to pay for "just" adding a lever changer, I'll just have to see how I do at work the next couple weeks...

If you go in grip don't bother with bba. IMO but get with pk5 the beat thing to do is hold each setup and see what you like. I love bba but prefer in grip on pistols.

that's the plan! I've only ever held/played with an inhandle changer, but pk5 has been nice enough to let me check out his level changer setup. and when I visit the shop I'll have a chance to actually check each setup out in person before I make up my mind

I'm with worrptangl... in-grip looks way cleaner. I say get the duck tail as well. I think it really completes the look.

Especially on a boxgun That is if Earon will do it. He doesn't always make them.
