I've owned everything but a duck. I have to say that Carters are truly amazing. I love them. I guess I'm a fanboy of sorts, but I have had my fair share of issues. Some of the older guns can use a cleaning and tuning sometimes. The newer guns should be fine unless someone really decided to mess with things.

Overall just get one and find out for yourself. I have owned and shot most all stock class guns and I can't find fault in any really I just prefer Carters. As with anything there is a learning curve.

Slider trigger comparison

I'm just going to address this question since you've already received lots of additional input.

I own a Redux, a Gargoyle and a Carter Comp slider trigger. All sliders are very smooth, but there is a noticeable difference in tolerances between the three. The Gargoyle (that's right the least expensive of the 3) has the smoothest pull with the tightest tolerance, with the Carter coming in 2nd and the Redux 3rd. And don't get me wrong, I love all 3 of these guns and all 3 have phenominal trigger pulls compared to any hinge/swing trigger I've ever fired; all 3 are going to the grave with me.

Thanks very much, this is what I was after ultimately. I've got a garg slider at the moment for my phantom project and it's just unbelievably smooth. I suppose I'll keep my eyes peeled for a nice buzzard and try to trade for it eventually

I can attest that Earon has said, to me personally, that he would recommend a Gargoyle to anyone. Earon and Rodney are close friends too. That is saying A LOT!!!

I agree with Short about the triggers but if you stack up a few Carters in there than you will find some setup better than others. Some due to custom options some because people have messed with them both good and bad.

Excellent point! And I should mention, my Comp slider frame is a VERY early model, so it might not be as refined as a newer version.

But not all carters have he same triggers.

I love the current sliders but the latest generation of hinge triggers are SUPERB! It's all what you like.

Everything is definitely personal preference. My current Mini-Buzzard has a very wide slide trigger that I think is just wonderful, and I adore the humpback frame. It's very much a subjective 'feel' thing.

I personally prefer swing triggers and both my comp and buzzard have them.
