Some Carters Cock some Dont?

Just was wondering why when some carters are not aired up they cock back and fire like a cocker pump would UNaired but with most carters they don't cock when they're not aired up (like most nelsons are) hmmm.. anyone?

I think this maybe due to valve spring and mainspring combination.

Comp/Buzzard I had could cock/fire without air. Boxgun does not. Same goes with unmodified phantom.

Well I know phantoms never do, but hmm... I've messed with alot of spring combos with my other buzzard and never had it cock

I had a unibody that did. I had a later model that didn't. If it's the same valve type, the maker won't really matter. With the right spring combo's, it can happen.

It is also somewhat dependent on how far back the cocking slots are cut. Since carter does a lot of work by hand, some may be cut farther back than others.
