Typical wait time

Hi, what is the typical wait time on a Carter Mini-buzzard? According to the website it says about a month from when he starts, what's the time that it's taken from when you guys have ordered till when you got your Carter Gun? Also if you could post what kind of gun and finish you ordered, as I'm sure different builds take varying lengths of time. Thanks!

my order took several long months.

earon wasn't happy with the anno and wanted it re-done. it was a basic flat gold and flat black.
i agreed just because, so another two months later...

They aren't, at least I don't think they are. The quoted time is 14-16 weeks on average for their guns, but many things can delay it. The anno takes up a big chunk of time as he waits until most of the batch is done before driving to the anno shop (apparently it is 4-6 hour drive each way or something).

If you are ordering a Carter, make sure you are okay with waiting as long as it takes, sometimes up to 6 months.

Here is a time line I posted in another thread:

Quote:
Order submitted on Carter Machine website - May 17, 2008
Contact from Lauren to confirm - June 10, 2008
Work started on marker - July 1, 2008
Paid for extra milling - August 27, 2008 (this is when she sent me the in progress pictures I posted a few months ago)
Sent to annodizer - middle of October, 2008
Gun back from annodizer - November 1, 2008
Shipped out to me - December 12, 2008
Arrived in Canada - December 22, 2008

He starts the markers in batches, so it depends on how "early" you order. It just so happened that he was starting his next batch on July 1st and I emailed 1.5 months beforehand. I would not suggest anyone get a Carter build (or any custom gun) if you mind waiting. If it wasn't for some issues on their end (totally acceptable given the circumstances) and the extra milling I had done, my Box Gun would have taken 4-5 weeks less. Just keep in mind that the actual time line starts once he starts building them.

EDIT: That "one month" thing does not/cannot refer to build time. That is time from placing your internet form order to Lauren contacting you, or if you are lucky, Lauren contacting you and Earon starting the build.

Ah I see. I ordered yesterday, and Lauren emailed me today, so hopefully I got in the late end of a cycle.

With any luck. She is quite busy this time of year (she is an accountant too I believe) but she has been getting back to me quickly as well. What sort of options/colour are you looking at getting? I already have a Mini-Buzzard designed in my head, ordering it next Christmas I think.
