Buzzard Roll-outs

Hey folks, just got my hands on a buzzard.

I had some AT issues, but those have been resolved with a little tinkering. I get bad rollouts now because the barrel is such a large diameter, any ideas? I've heard of people using nail polish or tape on the inside of the barrel to make a half assed detent of sorts. Would this work? Anyone have any other solution

Yup, just go the nail polish route.

With slight modification you can use other barrels on a buzzard, but if they're not the same ID as the stock one the pump stroke gets some slop in it. If you want to buy a kit, do it from Carter Machine itself, or they're could be some Sanchez Machine ones that have the right OD.

If it has a removable barrel, electrical tape is the quickest and easiest way to fix rollouts.

Yes, the barrel is removable. Won't the electrical tape move? my experience with it seems to lead me to think it will just kind of slide down the barrel slowly leaving that nasty residue

wrap the tabe around the end of the barrel, that way when you screw the barrel in it pinches the tape quite securely.

I use nail polish personally and it stopped that problem. I know someone who has an SM1 that Sanchez beveled for him. An SM barrel is a good investment anyway. Contact Sanchez Machine to see if they can do that for you.

Other then that just three lines of nail polish evenly spaced out works. The lines about a half inch long. Wait for it to dry before you add another coat.

I shall try nail polish first.

If I decide I want to hang onto my buzzard for the long haul then I'll look into getting a new barrel machined

Ball detent for your Carter

I sometimes use the "Derek" detent- try a small length of fishing line wrapped around the bottom screw--- and then pushed into the barrel, then tighten the screw- Voila! Mongo
