Old Style Bolt?

So I just read a post that described the most efficient marker as one where regulated pressure is released through a totally unobstructed route to the paintball. I think that sounds just plain right.

So a Phantom valve seems like a good candidate for this. All we need to do is remove the TPC, add a regulator, and maybe open up the power tube a little.

Anyone done this? Results? PSI?

Is there an older bolt that is one piece, or has no TPC? Links? I want one. ASP sells a longer powertube for such a bolt, but my old school knowledge fails me! Help!

there are countless threads on this subject here,drill the tpc or buy a older open face bolt,the longer powertubes still need to be cut down with a open face bolt.

Thanks Gogged Gurl. You describe exactly what I would like to do (drill the TPC or get an open bolt). If you would be willing to offer any information that would help me do as you say, that would be awesome.

What I did a few years ago... This was my set up;

And my TPC;

Reg was set at 450psi, I used a stock valve spring, and a blue main, with a very consistent 270fps.
I don't like a 3.5oz'r in the verticle position, and I'm not to crazy about a BBA either, so I mainly use 12g's, which for some reason didn't work well with that set up. Mayby GGurl might know why that was. I just never botherd to find out.

I would guess that a lot of the volume was added with the regulator and open face bolt.

My velocity was way low. I think a harder spring, and a softer valve would have helped. Though efficiency would then be bad, and with 12g's, that would suck. Maybe a higher reg input would also have helped :confused:

It's all good brah. I like yours also :thumbup::thumbup:
Having had a chance to look at the older Nelsons, and realizing how many old timers enjoyed the open bolt, had there been a suitable reg available for them back then, there's a good chance Mike would have never needed to invent the TPC.

I have a open bolt, and when a friend was playing at a big game he blew the power tube. Will I need a certain replacement or can I just throw in any nelson powertube?

That most likely happened due to a faulty cup seal unit. Gotta make sure that the threading is spot on, or they'll hurt someone

Nah, I don't mean that the power tube blasted out, I just meant that he broke it bad and now I need to buy a replacement. I was wondering if I could use a standard nelson powertube or is there a "older phantom only" model sort of deal.
