A simple solution has been staring us in the face...

So I was just looking at the gargoyle thread, and something dawned upon me. The easiest fool proof way to use first strike rounds would be to just square the rear part of the feed hole on the SC body, so that it's completely covered up when you have a feed on, but you can take it off and load first strike rounds, one at a time. You may be thinking, "But it's not magazine fed!", but I think that magazine+first strike=epic death of wallet. So is there some kind of obvious reason this won't work that nobody really talks about?

Adam45 posted about this. He uses them in Gargoyle #0001. You don't need to modify anything.

are you proposing modifying a phantom or a gargoyle?

A phantom, sorry if I wasn't clear. The way I understand, the fins won't fit on a standard SC tube.

Hah, sorry I didn't see that this was in the CCI forum.

You don't need to modify anything to use FS on the Phantom. With the SC feed off, or with the feedblock on and the feed tube removed, just point the barrel down about 45* or more and drop the FS in. They are front heavy so they will land in the breech nose down and slide forward into the barrel. Pump forward gently, aim, shoot, and repeat.

If the pump doesn't push it forward into the barrel smoothly then point the barrel straight down and give the marker a light shake to get the FS round to settle nose down.

Alternatively, I often muzzle load and use a barrel swab to push it back. That works well enough.

Easiest way to do it is either muzzle loaded or by taking the feedblock off and sticking it straight into the breech. Hmm... feedblock thumbscrew?

Or a new feed block/tube where it's like the gargoyle, and you can take off most of it, and then have the rest act like a ghost ring(which you can't do with the gargoyle), so that you screw out the feedtube, flip down the front of the feed block, and then you can have fiber optics behind the flip down part for target acquisition. Or just a feedblock where you can twist 90 degrees and it comes off, maybe with some kind of 2-piece screw...
