I have the ASP mod and they work great. It prevents roll outs as well as double feeds. Something the rings will not do. A cheap alternative is taping around the opening of the barrel with electrical tape. 3/4 stretches around the barrel while 1/4 of it will form an orifice when it's stretched as you wrap. I usally go once around which is plenty. The tape will fold in and hold the ball in place.

I really love the detent mod. Quick, painless, and I have never had to adjust sizes according to paint, and that is for small to large sizes. I rather dislike dis assembly, but man, for the price you can't go wrong.

How you ask? Well on the UC kit the screw is about 1-2 threads too long, and the ball sits right on top of the screw, and it WILL NOT fall out.

True story :P
I ran my 007 that way and it worked. I rounded the screw tip and used a nylon washer to get some adjustability. I don't know if I would do that with a UC kit though. Mine needs the mounting screw to be pretty tight.

I've heard others had mixed results with this method though and I'm thinking manufacturing differences could make the ball sit a little in front of (roll outs) or behind (broken paint when firing) of the "detent" screw.

I tested the python kit at TWC. I decided against it after i was unable to remove the python back without pulling the Phantom apart. I want to be able to quickly get my barrel off on the field incase of a chop or other break. I still use detents even with my freak inserts. I usually put a little bit of nail polish around the detent ring to hold them in tighter. I usually dont have to worry about them coming out even when using a swab to clean out the breach.

My UC kit is completly tight, it is just a hair too long.

I have never had an issue with mine, but I guess I'm just lucky

You sir have given me an idea.

When my new Phantom gets here I'm going to try it out, and I'll check in with the results. If what I'm thinking works, it may become another, cheap option with very little modification in the CCI market.

Get the ASP detente mod. I did it twice already. Best money spent on a Phantom ever.

THE-SHOOTIST Anyone chubbin' like me for this?
mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...

I always have to rub it in the face of those who have bought their fancy J&J kits for $150
