Would this be possible?

So a while ago, a PA phantom came up for sale, and somebody mentioned walking the pump while holding down the trigger. Then I started thinking, and then I had an epiphany. I figured the phantom could be made semi-auto by having a barrel kit(or a spring feed kit, for those with pricey barrel kits) which has a grip frame and(modified cocker maybe?)pneumatics on it, and then the original grip frame is replaced by an inert sear, and then the whole thing has a plug which screws into the back with a macroline coming out, so you have a bullpup semi-auto phantom with a smooth trigger pull (run-on sentences, FTW!). There could be an ASA on the grip frame, so it would be a natural drop. Has it been done before? Would it be feasible both from a financial and practical standpoint?

the nature of the phantom's design, being a bore drop (or is it breech drop? i always get the two confused) would turn it into a blender at even moderate rates of fire (iirc 8bps seems to be the max)

Ah. Well, I'm not a big fan of walking, I was just thinking of using it for pistol-like play(as in shoot, hide, shoot).

The Brass Eagle Rainmaker worked on a similar idea, though it had a sterling valve train and an electronic trigger. The sear is tripped whenever the bolt comes forward.

So, it would work in principle if I don't go over 8 BPS? I had an old BE gun(striker, IIRC[I know, not that old]) which would chop anything over 5 BPS, so I'm kinda familiar with taking it easy on the trigger.

The powertube usually can't take that type of rapid fire abuse, they usually break much more often.

I'm surprised at the lack of bullpup-esque guns with the advancements in electronics, which would allow moving the grip frame around more feasible.

Sounds a lot like a vector and the rainmaker.

Similiar ideas have been done to phantoms and they just never last, I suppose if you want a gun to have to keep repairing and replacing parts it would be fine, Also as it was mentioned previously the valve train really dosnt lend itself to high CPS, The flow rate (air) is also slower than desired as well, For a pump its just fine but not so much for a nelson.

I dont know if you are looking as other single tube guns but tippmanns, mags and others use completely different valve setups.

If the gun will lose CCI dependability, then I think I'll stick to pump.

The Rainmaker was before my (and therefore, your) time. Tourney was still hyperball and revvies were the hot loader. From what I can tell the Rainmaker worked pretty well, but was real loud. The valve train looked very much like an autotriggering nelson aka what you're proposing.

As stated before, making a semi automatic phantom would work, but it would create stresses the Phantom platform was not designed to handle.
