Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Canada's National Capital | ![]() Shown in the above photo: TPC, Redux bolt, pierce pin assembly and modified velocity adjuster with pins for installing pierce pin assembly. *** *** *** Historical information below I saw a post on M.CB a short time ago about this. Someone made a tool, might have been a squeegee, that had a tool milled onto one end specifically for the installation and removal of pierce-pin assemblies. Anyone have a link? Yes, I already have a home-made tool - basically a flattened screwdriver. The tool I'm thinking of is more elegant, having a properly machined or molded profile to prevent it from slipping off or damaging the assembly when gronked on. EDIT - I think I found one solution: Easiest way to remove piercing pin assembly Thanks for posting that Agent Smith! Looks like modifying a standard, CCI velocity adjuster could work. The end could be turned down to fit inside the assembly and the tip drilled to accommodate the piercing pin. A roll pin across the end would engage the slot. I'll post pics once I try this. One less tool to carry. Last edited by CJOttawa; 08-31-2010 at 12:16 PM. |

wouldn't it be one *more* tool to carry? ![]() you could probably modify a spare CCI plastic tip to work to remove the pierce pins.

I was about to say, wouldn't just making a tip for the velocity adjuster be easier?

Well, I drilled the end of my velocity adjuster. It fits *perfectly* inside the pierce pin assembly which bodes well for using it as an install tool. I haven't cross-drilled and pinned it yet as my rotary tool is pooched. On thing: putting a small magnet in the end of the tool would facilitate using it on gas-in-grip markers like the Redux or Boxgun, without disassembling the marker. I always used a paper clip that I keep in my tool bag for this. Works perfect, just minor modding and yer set

Bumping this as I've updated the first post. The velocity adjuster can be modified to install a pierce pin assembly. An added plus: it still works for its intended purpose, eliminating the need for an extra tool on field. |
