Chopping Issues...

So here is my set up...

I really like my new Flory feed, but I found that I am now chopping the occasional ball, which turns into a real mess...

I believe the issue stems from the riser between the feed and the body. (The riser is there to allow the feed to clear the drop out valve.) The riser allows a ball or almost two balls to sit right above the breech, so when the bolt moves back the first ball drops and the second follows... MOST of the time the bolt pushes the second ball back up into the feed without issue. But sometimes, often enough to be an issue, the second ball gets caught between the leading edge of the bolt and the body and gets chopped...

So...I need help in finding a solution.

Possible solution one) Get rid of the dropout valve, get a VSC set up and remove the riser on the feed...

Issue: I like the drop out valve? I don't have a huge amount of money to drop.

Possible solution two) Get the ASP mod...Probably should do this anyway...

Will this work? Will it solve the issue by its self?

Possible solution three) Start dremeling some of the feed/riser to give the second ball room to move out of the way...

Don't know if that will solve the issue thought. I don't have access to anything more than a dremel, I suck at delicate work and it will remove the anno...

Possible solution four) Mod the bolt to help push the second ball up and out of the way?

Not sure how to do that?

So, any insight would be very helpful.

Thanks!

I would say see if you can get one of the airsmiths to take a ball endmill the the feedtube so it has a nice clean radius to match the body.

ASP mod used with the orings that comes with it for small paint should do the trick I would think. Bonus of trying this one first is that even if it doesn't solve the problem, it doesn't hurt anything.

I meant mill the back part of the feedtube, the large part, so that you can get rid of the riser plate entirely.

I think your problem is the paintball rolling forward in you breech slightly, before the bolt comes forward on the pumpstroke. I think the problem will be fixed by the ASP mod, which I have and love, or a SSC ego detent mod.
Or you could attach the feed rock back style somehow.

That wont work, the feedtube would not clear the dropout valve and if I milled the bottom off the feedgate would not fit and neither would a 10rnd tube.

I think you may be right, and like you and Greenmtnphantom say, its a great mod to have anyway...

It was meant as a joke. PE has been working for years to deal with the same issue of the bolt clipping the next ball in the stack. Rather than working to change the bolt/breech relation (think Angel G series) or the position of the detents, they have spent years and much R & D money to reshape the front and top edge of their bolt to deal with the issue.
