There's a big difference between 50 at 270 average and 60 at 270. I've hit 50 a few times with lucky setups and enough time between shots, but it was a stretch and I lost 50 FPS between the first and last shots. (300 down to 250, then vent)

Unless we're talking about shooting at 220 FPS, there's no way a Phantom is going to get 60 good shots without some kind of serious modification.

I understand that Russ. I normally change at 30 anyways. Just a habit I try to keep. I'm studying the art of tuning so when I get time I can tune my guns to get the best efficiency for shooting 40 shots. Lowest curve I can get.

How do you like that chrono your using for the R7 testing? I've heard they are much better than the yellow ones.

I like my yellow Chrono, but the white one is easier to use and doesn't miss shots.

I noticed a difference in them this past weekend. The white one would say 240's and the yellow one would say 250's. Have you tried using them both at the same time to see if they are calibrated differently?

Sorry for getting off topic.

Nope, but that's disappointing to hear. I guess one of those light sensor shooting chronos would be the most accurate.

Anyways...going by 3022's method of Joule calculation, 270 fps, 3.2g paintball, and 60 shots = 650 Joules per cartridge.

My regged Sniper that I tested was the single best shot count I've ever seen, and that only got 540ish Joules per cartridge using that method.

If a gun were shooting 250 FPS, it could probably hit that mark if it were tuned to be beastly efficient...60 shots at 250 FPS = 550 Joules. (assuming 3.2 gram pb)

More realistic would be 220-240 FPS.

Sorry if I sound like an autistic efficiency nazi...I just don't think it's helpful for people to brag about insanely unrealistic efficiency numbers and make everyone else think that's what they need to shoot for. If your first shot is 270, but you got 60 shots at average 230 FPS... that's not 60 shots at 270.

Well maybe you could try one time with both chronos. I'm interested in getting a personal one. I'm thinking it may have just been the one's I used but I don't have any other to compare it to.

Also I agree with you about the whole efficiency thing. I can honestly say I never actually checked the velocity of my last shots with that phantom. I just know that the few times I got up that high I was still getting reasonable shots off.

tested my phantom when i got it stock bba with detent rings and stock barrel with a crosman, i gto 40 good usable shots before they started dying down. I just got a freak bored stock barrel with inserts, and getting an asp tpc and tri fluted hammer soon, so i will test it out completely once i get those parts in. This is without a chrono, but i adjusted my phantom to how i used to have my old phantoms with the right amount of turns and spring to get it around 280 - 300.

Even air pressure can change velocity. I'm not saying you don't have a good setup or one that could provide a lot of shots per 12g, just saying that since we don't know the actual velocity of the shots its not a very valid test. Those shots could have all been <250fps.
