Adjusting Velocity without the CCI tool

Is there any way to adjust the velocity on a VSC Phantom without the tool from CCI? Thanks a lot.

Adjustable regulator...e.g. stabilizer. Although it will degrade efficiency.

I used to unscrew the barrel leaving it in the pump handle and just turn it out of the way. Make my adjustment and the turn the pump handle back. line up and screw the barrel in.

Glad to help, or if you have a long flat head in your tool box that can work too.

that hasn't been my experience. Regs will certainly increase consistency. And if your measure of efficiency is the number of shots per 12g or tank, then a regulated, well tuned phantom running off of 12g should have a flatter velocity curve from start to finish of the 12g and get more useful shots per 12g.

Not sure if I've explicated that correctly, but there are tons of threads out there about tuning nelsons for constancy and efficienc. And my interpretation (and 5 years practical experience running an o/c phantom w/HP stab) is that regging a phantom increases constancy and efficiency. just my 2cents

to the op: sounds like titus got you squared away. Also, if you are struggling to get your velocity within a useful range, changing springs is an option, but should be considered a last resort--the stock springs on a phantom are great. Even when I use the cci velocity adjuster tool I still take my barrel off--can't stand the thought of sticking a metal object down my nice barrels.

Thanks everybody. I'm not really looking to upgrade my phantom, at least for the forseeable future. I normaly find myself chronoing at 260fps... certainly playable, but not the 275-280 I'm looking for. Thanks again for all the help.
